Enabling Patient Portal Access

Configure Portal Credentials for Patient

Go to:

Patient → Demographics

  1. Open the patient record
  2. Locate the Portal Access section
  3. Set:
    • Username (usually email)
    • Temporary password or generate one
  4. Ensure Portal Enabled is checked
  5. Save

Provide Login Information to Patient

Share:

  • Portal URL
  • Username
  • Temporary password

Ask the patient to change their password on first login


Verify Portal Access

  • Have the patient log in
  • Confirm they can view:
    • Messages
    • Documents
    • Appointments

🔍 Troubleshooting Common Issues


❌ Patient Cannot Log In

Check:

  • Correct username and password
  • Portal is enabled for that patient
  • Caps Lock / typing errors

Fix:

  • Reset password from patient record
  • Re-send login instructions

❌ Portal Not Loading

Check:

  • Correct portal URL
  • Internet connection
  • Browser compatibility

Fix:

  • Try another browser (Chrome recommended)
  • Clear browser cache

❌ Patient Not Receiving Messages

Check:

  • Messaging is enabled in portal settings
  • Correct patient email
  • Spam/junk folder

  • Resend message
  • Verify email configuration on server

  • Documents are marked as available to patient
